London - Level 3 Data Center

Building Overview

Modern Data Center located in eastern London is opened in 1999 and technical equipment takes up five floors, i.e. over 8000 m².

London Data Center is connected to the following providers - Level 3, Colt, BT, C&W, WorldCom, Neos, Viatel, Fibrenet, 51 degrees.

Technical Specification

Main power source

Power source - Dual redundant 4MVA, 11kV dedicated underground cable feeds to dedicated dual redundant 4MVA transformer substation.

Generators

In case of emergency there are two diesel generators which give 4.4 MV power, with automatic start and reaching full power in less than one minute. Tank can store enough fuel for 24 hour continuous operations.

UPS

With under-floor power track distribution system and dual redundant AELB distribution strategy, each UPS module provides 15-minute battery autonomy.

DC

Universal distribution system with dual redundant, with four hours of battery autonomy and power system of 800 amp -48VDC.

Conditions

Fully regulated humidity and temperature, with option of cooling capability over the gross space, where technical areas are positively pressurized to minimize dust ingress.

Fire Protection

Very Intelligent Early Warning (VIEW) detection system and smoke extract system activated by fire alarm represent the top quality of fire protection measures. Where it was possible, non-inflammable and low-smoke zero halogen materials were used, while flammable materials are not stored anywhere near technical equipment. The building is split into sealed, independent, fire compartments.

Security

Building is remotely monitored 24/7/365 and it has full electronic access control system, based on proximity cards with photo and PIN keypads.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

Video monitoring and recording of all access points and circulation areas.

Building Monitoring System (BMS)

Building is monitored 24/7/365 through Control center for monitoring operations and local monitoring creates logs of temperature and humidity conditions and alarms. There is also full perimeter under-floor leak detection linked to building monitoring system.

Infrastructure

Facility is designed to accommodate standard rack/cabinets of 220 cm nominal height. All electric installations are under floor, and fiber and copper cabling are distributed overhead. Fiber entry to the building is via two independent points.
